Jeanine LongIf you have been to this blog before, you undoubtedly notice that the look has changed! With progress comes change. Thank you Pastor Mike for the new look.

Reflections … from the Fishpond. What in the world is that supposed to mean? As I type this I look out the window at our fishpond and there is a light fog hovering just above the water. It’s Monday morning and there is a light fog hovering just above my brain too! But as the sun rises that fog will lift and sunlight will dance off the water like diamonds flung to the wind. This morning I thank God that as the Son rose I had reason to dance for my sin had been flung to the wind.

I’m not really a fisherman – not those splish-splashy things you catch in our pond with bait and a pole. You may hear a few tales of my unsuccessful quests to the pond, even the ocean. I don’t think God blessed me with the patience to do that kind of fishing. But just as Simon, we are all to step beyond our fears and become a different kind of fisherman. And this world is our fishpond. Jesus said to Simon, “There is nothing to fear. From now on you’ll be fishing for men and women.” They pulled their boats up on the beach, left them, nets and all, and followed him. (Luke 5:10-11)

These will be the stories and truths that I try to share in these entries. God places a rod and reel in our hands every day. He even baits the hook for us (ugh .. I really don’t that part of fishing!). He places us at the right places, with the right people who need to be told about Him. Sometimes we fail to even throw the line in the water. One thing I know for sure about fishing. If you don’t throw the line in the water you are certain to catch no fish! Sometimes we cast the line, but pay no attention to the “tug” on the other end of it and miss opportunities to share the gospel. And the fish is lost. But sometimes, we get it all right. Cast the line, feel the tug, respond, and catch the fish. I’m looking forward to a future of good fishin’ together.
